Designer Rocio Jimenez with Jackie Arvelo
Yovanka and Consuelo, the beautiful business ladies of Shine, who decided to host a Café de la Leche “to help this good cause“, told us that the event “supassed our expectations” and that without a doubt the best part was for them “being able to support this cause which we really believe in.” The lovely ladies went on to say:
“One of the concepts of Shine is to support and promote local Dominican artists and designers, for us it is a great pleasure to have the clothing of designer Jacqueline Then this season on sale in store. We are also proud to have the work of famous photographer Rocio Jimenez and her collection of photographic baseplates Reflejos de las vitrinas de las calles de Paris (reflections in the windows of Paris), as well as Maite Rivera with her exclusive Maite Make-Up range.”

Whilst the food and snacks at a Café de la Leche event are not the central attraction, we ladies do like to enjoy something yummy at these gatherings – and the selection at Shine did not disappoint.
A range of tempting light bites were elegantly presented on a table with a magnificent yellow floral arrangement, whilst “The Club” Grill and Restaurant at the Casa del Río who will be opening at the end of the month served the most delicious tuna tartare and some fantastic kebabs – certainly giving us all something to look forward to when they do open.
The evening ended as we all lazed in the quaint front garden – which had been recreated as a lounge area by JR & Co. event rentals, whose owner Janet Rivera told us “Doña Xiomara Menéndez [founder of the Hogar del Niño] is a real philanthropist, I am honored to support her causes.“
The Club at Casa del Río – opening soon!

About the Café de la LecheThe Cafe de la Leche is a monthly charitable event, a little like a coffee or a tea party held for the ladies of Casa de Campo (although men are occasionally invited) and usually takes place on the first Friday of the month, hosted by a member of the Casa de Campo villa at her Casa de Campo villa or occasionally restaurant/business.
