On February 18, 2023, the dedicated team at Patronato Benéfico Oriental hosted another fantastic charity weekend, innovating how our community comes together for a good cause. This event has been celebrated for over two decades. It is held to raise funds for developing various educational, social, and health programs sponsored by the PBO, benefiting thousands of girls, boys, and young people in La Romana.

The Romana Country Club hosted all the day’s events, including the traditional golf and tennis tournaments, yoga, padel, pickleball, and even a sip-and-paint activity. To end the successful Hogar del Niño Weekend, the doors of the Country Club opened at 8:00 p.m. for participants and guests to enjoy a delicious dinner prepared exclusively by the club’s chefs, followed by live dance music.

Xiomara Menéndez Dájer, President of the PBO, expressed how grateful she is to all the families and friends in our community, as well as the support provided by so many people and sponsoring companies that contribute to this event every year, together achieving positive changes in the lives of the children in La Romana. “Nothing we have accomplished over all these years – being able to provide education, health, and well-being to all of the boys and girls of Hogar del Niño – would be possible without the helping hand of all of you,” she said.

Awards were given to the winners of the various activities during the day. Then The Boba Band took to the stage, causing guests to flood the dance floor and transforming the atmosphere from a dinner party to a lively dance party, with live music echoing throughout the Country Club. It was truly an evening filled with wonder, celebrating a beautiful cause! We can’t wait for next year’s Hogar del Niño Weekend and hope to see more people participating.
