On Saturday 14 April, a distinguished group of intellectuals, bank managers, business managers, as well as residents and visitors to our wonderful Casa de Campo community enjoyed  an economic talk/lecture organized by Azimut Yachts and IBI Nautica in the Casa de Campo Yacht Club in the Marina Casa de Campo.  The talk was led by renowned economist and former World Bank consultant, Elkyn A. Chaparro. Elkyn A. Chaparro graduated as a mathematical economist at the University of Leuven, Belgium, before starting work at the World Bank in 1970 at the age of 22 as a macroeconomist, where he worked until 2005. He has professional experience as an economist, researcher, project manager, negotiator, manager, internal and external advisor to the highest level. Her also has an extraordinary global geographical experience of Europe, Asia, Africa, Mediterranean and Latin America.

Mauro Caslini and Ana Martinelli

“Where are we going?” “Miremos lejos: Para donde vamos?” (where are we going) proved to be an excellent lecture, in which Chaparro emphasized the constant and continuous state of change and development in which we live, in a world that is changing even faster than we are. The future of Latin America, especially of the Dominican Republic, suffers ups and downs, but continues to evolve with new opportunities never seen before. Technology has simplified life not only in the workplace, but also for individuals. In addition, he noted that it is important to skip the traditions – go beyond our expectations and needs to truly advance and make a diference. At the end of the talk Chaparro, answered questions and socialized with the Casa de Campo community in attendance over cocktails and picadera provided by Azimut Yachts.
