hurricane season

UPDATE (3pm, Thursday August 30th): Tropical Depression 12 has already been upgraded to Tropical Storm Leslie – but is still predicted to move on a northern path that will not affect land.

Historically August and September are the “hottest” months for the development of Tropical Cyclones (depressions, storms and hurricanes) – and this season certainly seems to be living up to that rule! Whilst Tropical Storm Isaac spin across the United States and Hurricane Kirk churns up the mid-Atlantic ocean – today a new Tropical Depression (#12), predicted to become Tropical Storm Leslie and later Hurricane Leslie, has formed., and was quickly upgraded to Tropical Storm Leslie, possibly soon to become Hurricane Leslie.

Although this Tropical Depression  Troical Storm Leslie looks to be “close” to us, fortunately for us in the Dominican Republic – it is predicted to move North and miss the Dominican Republic (and all other Caribbean islands) completely.

So for now it looks like we’re set to enjoy sunny days! See you at Minitas!

As an amateur “storm chaser” I had a super time taking photos as Tropical Storm Isaac and the storm surge he caused as he passed to the South of Casa de Campo! Click on the links below to see more photos:
