Yesterday, Wednesday the 16th of November the inaugural non-stop JetBlue flight from New York touched down at the La Romana – Casa de Campo airport, when a ribbon cutting ceremony took place with Dominican music and dancing and even a celebratory cocktail.
Greeted by a traditional “water salute” the roomy Airbus A320 aircraft landed at the La Romana – Casa de Campo airport and 12.55pm, making La Romana, Jetblue’s 67th “BlueCity” and Jetblue’s 5th destination airport within the Dominican Republic – a fact which now makes JetBlue the Dominican Republic’s largest carrier. And with only an 8 minute transfer to the Casa de Campo resort – the arrival of this new flight is wonderful news for both Casa de Campo villa owners and residents, as well as tourists and visitors!
Following the arrival of the plane, the ribbon cutting ceremony took place, led by Robin Hayes, Chief Commercial Officer for JetBlue Airways and Lucien Echavarria, the New York tourism office director, who were accompanied by Claudio Silvestri, President and CEO of Premier Resorts & Hotels, Fausto Fernandez, the Viceminister of tourism and Kelvin Pabon, General Manager of Jet Blue in the Dominican Republic, as well as the beautiful Miss Dominican Republic Dalia Cristina Fernández Sánchez.
Once inside the La Romana – Casa de Campo airport building the celebrations continued with a number of speeches and announcements – during which Robin Hayes took the opportunity to highlight some great special offers and free give-aways JetBlue is offering right now in celebration of the new flight (details below).
“This is a historic day,” beamed Dr. Claudio Silvestri, President and CEO of Premier Resorts & Hotels, the management company for Casa de Campo. “Many of our villa owners and hotel guests reside in the New York/Northeast region of the United States and the convenience of this new JetBlue flight is being received with great excitement not only by all of Casa de Campo but also by our travel partners and visitors”
