Last Friday, June 17th, WAO Gallery Cultural Center in Altos de Chavón formally opened the exhibition of the artist Joaquín Basanta.
Basanta, presents in this exhibition 28 ink drawings on paper, with impeccable technique, has been cataloged as an important promise for Dominican art by the art critics Marianne de Tolentino and Delia Blanco, as well as the critic Amable López Meléndez who states, “In his first exhibition, Joaquín Basanta proves talents of true value. Applying himself to the study of the foundations of the plastic fact, with the just audacity of his youth and his fresh imagination, his exhibition eloquently testifies to his implication “Caída” (“Fall” in English) towards his own existential abysses”.
The artist’s exhibition tells an individual story in each of his works, with clean and perfectionist lines, bordering on the obsessive in each of his strokes, from the sober shades of black and white to the careful degradation of grays, describes in each of them her inner world, showing the female silhouette, her nudity with dramatic and intimate turns, integrating images of flora, fauna, symbols and other connotations with which she makes the public observe and interact and question environmental aspects, metaphysical and philosophical.
The words of welcome and the context of the exhibition were given by the curator, Margarita González Auffant, who was joined by the artist who thank the guests for joining them. The exhibition design and assembly were executed by Sanil García and the artist Joaquín Basanta.
An entertaining and exciting night, where the exhibition that was decoded by the artist to personalities of the Casa de Campo community, family, and friends of the press shone.
The sponsor of this activity was in charge of Higueral Products and Amelia Pereyra Events. This exhibition will be open until July 18th, from Wednesday to Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., so we invite you to come and see first-hand the intimate world of the artist described through an impeccable technique in each of his works.
