Starting February 3, WAO Galería & Centro Cultural will present the exhibition of the visual artist from Barahona, Fernándo Tamburini, known for his colorful abstract work that oscillates between figurative, primitive and realistic in which he captures the great culture of the Dominican people, being called the Dominican Chagall for his collection of animals that defy gravity, floating and falling from the skies over the bohíos, by Mr. Stephen Kaplan, Rector of CHAVÓN The School of Design.
“Recent Works” is the name of his new proposal, where the use of different types of materials in the construction of his new works have created a break in his original way of making art; The move away from rectangular formats has brought new ideas and an infinite number of solutions to what the artist wants to express in three-dimensional formats, where high relief, collage and painting play freely. However, the connection with the past still vibrates in the roundness of his head and serves as an archetype for the most recent results, it is impossible to separate one thing from the other. Vibrant colors and free-form abstractions continue to be ingenious protagonists that will make his works prevail over time, taking painting as entertainment, often forcing composition or topographical surface, seeking to annihilate sobriety.
This exhibition consists of a total of 14 pieces created by the artist, showing us a lyrical portrait of peasant life and its magical-realism and fantasy themes that delight the viewer.
For the artist, art is a manifestation of the human being in which we can see many things: talent, workmanship, mastery of space and freedom of expression; learning to express oneself through art is a sophisticated way of expression, seeing what the artist wants to convey through his works, achieving that art-spectator interaction, is the main reason for an interesting dialogue.
The exhibition will remain open from February 3 to March 6, 2023, from Wednesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sundays and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Mondays.
