WAO Gallery & Cultural Center located in Altos de Chavón opened on the night of Friday, November 25, 2022, the exhibition “The Garden of Wishes” by the artist Ónice Mejía.
Ónice, presented a series of paintings in mixed media, sculptures and installations inspired by nature and the environment that surrounds it, leaving the contradiction between adaptation and transformation palpable. An innovative proposal where we can see fantastic fruits and seeds as protagonists in a dream garden where nature shines in a dance of light and shadows, which leads us to break everyday thinking.
The Garden of Wishes evokes a walk through a forest full of feelings, not straying from the essence of the edge, the colors, lights and shadows magnify the walls of the Wao Gallery and Cultural Center. The welcoming words were given by Sanil García, followed by the artist who thanked family and friends for accompanying her in this special moment, explaining her creative process that gave rise to the Garden of Wishes and how each piece in particular obtained its own personality. Carlos Montesino, professor and friend of the artist to whom the exhibition was dedicated, talked about Ónice’s artistic success with a critique that builds and exalts the work done.
A total of 19 pieces achieved their goal of making us live a sensory, conceptual and personal experience that breaks with everyday thinking, inciting our most primitive instinct to touch to understand. The exhibition will remain open from November 25 to December 26, 2022, from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Monday.
