Genesis oozes cool parties all week long. Right after Chantal Del Pino’s concert in Café Marietta, we’re heading to Genesis thanks to their mid-week early opening for Thursday’s Corpus Christi holiday. We’ll hear from artists like DJ Jonas and Chris Valencia, and Saturday will pay special tribute to one of the most iconic bands ever, Soda Stereo!
Saturday will be a night filled with their legendary songs like, “Música Ligera,” “Entre Caníbales,” “Persiana Americana,” “Un Misil en Mi Placard,” and more, performed by Luichy Guzman, David Vasquez, and Luini Quezada. If you haven’t an idea who Soda Stereo is, let’s give you the low-down on one of the greatest bands ever!
Soda Stereo was an Argentinian rock band created in Buenos Aires in 1982, by legendary trios Gustavo Cerati (lead vocals, guitar), Héctor “Zeta” Bosio (bass), and Charly Alberti (drums). They achieved international success throughout the 80s and 90s, and were the first Latin rock group to achieve success throughout Hispanic America. They topped the all-time lists in their native Argentina, becoming one of the best-selling Argentinian bands of all time and setting landmarks in record sales and concert attendances. Throughout their 15-year career, the band sold over 17 million albums in Latin America alone – and even though they separated long ago, this number continues to rise.
After the band’s separation, all three of its members found new endeavours – Gustavo Cerati continued a successful solo career, releasing four studio albums (most of which achieved Platinum and Gold status in Argentina), Zeta Bosio now works as a music producer with new bands like “Aguirre” and “Peligrosos Gorriones”; and Charly Alberti along with Deborah de Corral form a band named “Plum”. In 2010, Gustavo Cerati suffered a massive stroke while on tour for his album, “Fuerza natural” and sadly fell into a coma. In September 2014, he passed away but left his incredible music as his legacy.
