Embajador_Clínica de Familia La Romana

Last Friday, September 12th, the United States Ambassador in the Dominican Republic, James Brewster, visited the city of La Romana, specifically the Clínica de Familia, to get to know their facilities and see the good work that has been done by the clinic in recent years.

After his arrival, the ambassador and his companions made a tour of the Clínica de Familia guided by Mina Halpern, Executive Director of the institution, where he could interact with the staff members and admire the facilities recent improvements. Another reason for this pleasant visit, was to review the social work done by the Clínica de Familia La Romana with funds received from the American government through the (USAID).

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its project “Advancing Partners and Communities” agreed to contribute US$ 248,000 to the Clínica de Familia for the 2014-2016 period, through the consortium compromising the Dominican Family Planning Association ADOPLAFAM.

The Clínica de Familia is a complete community health service organization in La Romana, which runs one of the largest HIV clinics in the Dominican Republic, in addition to an adolescent reproductive health clinic, and a specialized clinic for sex workers, among other programs.
