At the end of March, Ambassador for the United States in the Dominican Republic, James Brewster was in Casa de Campo to take part in the annual AMCHAMDR Golf Tournament, and at the same time took the opportunity to visit the Hogar del Niño in La Romana.
Joining United States Ambassador James Brewster on his visit to the Hogar del Niño was Xiomara Ménedez, founder of the cause with her daughters Xiomarita Matos, president, and Erika Vilain, as well as Sandra Alvarado, and Casa de Campo villa owner, Phyllis Berney.
As it turned out, Ambassador James Brewster was quiet a hit among the little ones – playing ball with the toddlers, high-fiving with the pre-schoolers and even handing out candies.
Alongside his partner, Bob J. Satawake, Ambassador James Brewster was also taken on a guided tour of the Diagnóstica Social, a health centre which specialises in medical imagining and diagnostics and the Central Romana Hospital, the “Centro Médico”. The Diagnóstica Social, is part of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, the umbrella organisation for the Hogar del Niño. Here, Ambassador James Brewster was met by Dr. José López, the Health Vice President of Central Romana & Director of the Centro Médico, Ramon Menéndez Executive Vice President of Central Romana and Dr. Pedro Pablo Purcell, Chief Radiologist for the “Centro Médico”.
