ALS_graduation_party_hilda_geraldinoBack in June of this year, the Abraham Lincoln School celebrated its 32nd class graduation here in Casa de Campo, a celebration which for Sophia Papadopoulos, Anel Peña, Margery Pinette, Mariella Matar, Alejandro Flaquer and Hilda Geraldino Álvarez was followed by a magnificent graduation party! Here, 3 of the young graduates; Hilda Geraldino Alvarez, Alejandro Flaquer and Mariella Matar tell us all about the celebration in their own words:

Six of the graduates did the dinner together: Sophia Papadopoulos, Anel Peña, Margery Pinette, Mariella Matar, Alejandro Flaquer and I. Our dinner had a vintage theme, which was Sophia’s idea. It took us a lot of time and effort to organise it. The six of us helped our mothers who worked extremely hard at arranging this beautiful night. Sometimes it was stressful having 12 people working together, but we got fun memories out of it. We even came up with a hashtag for the dinner #clan6. The buffet and entrees were made by Eventos y Catering from Gladys Quiñones company [who is also the mother of Sophia Papadopoulos] , but the desserts were made by Soraya and Anel Peña, Sophia, my mother and I. The decorations came together thanks to all 12 of us and Omar from Eventos and Catering. ALS_graduation_party_2 We were all very excited to graduate. I was full of joy, but I felt insecure of the future ahead, as we are walking into the unknown. However, as it comes near to starting my path through university the scary feeling is turning into a little rush of thrill. I am going to start Organizational (Industrial) Psychology at Unibe this September. Anel and Alejandro will be leaving to Florida to start Business Administration, Sophia will go to Canada to study Culinary Art and event planning and Margery and Mariella will also go to Unibe to study Early Childhood Education and Medicine. I would love to thank my parents for all their guidance through school, how they managed to instill their values in me and I am glad to say  that those will remain in me through this new phase. It was a pleasure to do my graduation dinner alongside friends I have known since we were babies and who I know I can call family. I would also like to say that I had a blast with all the mothers who took part in making this dinner possible.

Alejandro Flaquer

Alejandro FlaquerIt was unforgettable! It turned out to be the party we dreamed of from the beginning of the year. Finally graduating felt fantastic, like a breath of fresh air. The thought of starting a new life and living new experiences can thrill anybody! Now I am going to study abroad where I plan to acquire a degree in business and hopefully experience a new lifestyle and culture. I would like to thank my mum and dad for all their support through the good times and the bad and most importantly to never forget how much they mean to me wherever I am or what I am doing.

Anel Pena

Anel PenaIt is going to be remembered – the prom night every student would like to close high school with! Rehearsals and graduation happened all too fast and thanks to the teachers that shaped it into a wonderful evening. My next steps are moving to Florida and starting college studying business admin. To my mum and dad – I’m definitely going to miss you too!
