Veuve Clicquot
The history of Veuve Clicquot, known worldwide as the Veuve (the widow), is the story of Madame Clicquot. Known today as the “Grand Dame” (great lady) of champagne, Madame Clicquot, lived to almost ninety years and was the first woman to succeed in the modern-day business world.
The Veuve Clicquot winery founded in 1772, was not the first to produce sparkling wines but is certainly one of the oldest.
Grapes from 50 to 60 different “crus” are used to produce Veuve Clicquot, as well as a large proportion of reserve wines (between 25% and 40%) which ensures the quality of every bottle.
