There seems ro be a whole lot of confusion surrounding Tropical Storm Maria – according to stormpulse.com, weather.com and various other weather channels the center of Tropical Storm Maria is located approximately 280 miles to the NORTH of the Dominican Republic – yet the satellite image (above) tells a totally different story! Confused? So am I!
To be perfectly honest, I really don’t know what is going on with Tropical Storm Maria, but as far as I can tell from the satellite images – it looks like we (the Dominican Republic and Casa de Campo) are about to be hit by a lot of rain and possibly even some relatively high winds.
From various weather resources I have managed to gather the following information about the current weather situation:
About Tropical Storm Maria
Photo from: stormpulse.com
- The “center” of Tropical Storm Maria is currently located approximately 300miles to the NORTH of the Dominican Republic
- Tropical Storm Maria is moving VERY slowly North-North-West at approximately 6mph
- Tropical Storm Maria currently has maximum sustained winds of 50mph
- Tropical Storm Maria is now heading North
Weather Outlook for the Dominican Republic, Casa de Campo and La Romana
Image from: wunderground.com
- As can be seen on the above satellite image, the outskirts of Tropical Storm Maria have just reached the East of the Dominican Republic and Casa de Campo La Romana – which would explain why it has been thundering for the last few hours.
- If Tropical Storm Maria moves North as expected the Dominican Republic should not experience the worst of the rain – however there will definitely be some rain over the next few hours/days.
CONCLUSION: Tropical Storm Maria is being VERY unpredictable – but whatever happens it’s going to rain over the next few days!
