Are you a Baseball fan? Well, if you are a Dominican we are pretty sure you are… and if you’re not its pretty difficult to be in the Dominican Republic at this time of year and not get swept up in the excitement of baseball! On Monday, October 22nd, a representation from the local team, Los Toros del Este, visited the Fundación MIR schools to share their life experiences with the students. The school was visited by the teams mascot, El Torito del Este, the teams godmother Miss Jennifer Hunt and two of its outstanding players; the renowned Dominican Rubén Sosa JR and the American reinforcement Jacob Wilson. The members of the team together with their marketing coordinator Marlon Vázquez, spent a morning motivating and encouraging the children and young people of MIR Campo Nueva Esperanza to continue with their studies, to learn everything they can and to pursue their dreams. With a bright smile on their faces they toured the school and were surprised by the educational programs and the high level of education provided by the MIR schools. The children were able to share with El Torito as they danced and sang “Aquí a ‘somos toros” and the MIR baseball team were given expert advice from the players. This year the championship officially started on Saturday, October 13th, the first game here in La Romana took place that same day, Toros del Este vs. Estrellas Orientales. Since then they have been working hard in order to move on to the next stage and be one of the four top teams.  So baseball lovers, we hope you as as excited as the MIR students and don your orange outfits and cheer for our local baseball team! If you haven’t made it out to the Estadio Francisco A. Michelli, you are definitely missing out on one of the best fun filled experiences in La Romana outside of Casa de Campo! Even if you don’t follow baseball. The energy in the stands guarantees you will have a great time! It’s just a matter of time before you are also cheering on your favorite team and chanting:

AQUI TO’SOMOS TOROS!
