While many vacationers will be heading home soon after a holiday filled with “fiestas, fiestas, fiestas” we hope you’ll stick around for the Magical Splendor Gala with the Fundación MIR this Saturday, January 18th. The fundraising event to benefit the non-profit’s social and educational programs for the children of La Romana will include a golf tournament at 1:00 pm at the La Romana Country Club and follow with a dinner, dance, and fashion show at Casa Grande at 8:00 pm.
We’re ecstatic esteemed fashion designer Naeem Khan will make his fifth appearance at the Magical Splendor Gala. The New York-based designer told us he met Raysa Fanjul in Palm Beach and feel in love with the idea of coming to Casa de Campo for the Fundación MIR has shown tremendous support for the charity. Over the past years, he has donated several dresses (the equivalent of close to US $100,000) which went to some very fortunate ladies attending the gala and no doubt has aided the school’s educational initiatives and expansion.
The Fundación MIR supports three schools in La Romana, an elementary school for children through 4th grade and a boy’s school and a girl’s school for youth 5th-12th grade. They provide the highest level of educational services as MIR teachers receive multiple training sessions led by Florida International University (FIU) professors throughout the year. The foundation also implements a year-around dental program on campus.
The Magical Splendor Gala is an exceptional way to benefit the local charity’s school system and enjoy an evening of the finest standards in Casa de Campo. Dine and dance the night away and view Naeem Khan’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, and the traditional “Mystery Shopping Wall” will be a delicious addition to the night and a portion of proceeds will benefit the Fundación MIR.
