On March 22, the multidisciplinary artist Thelma Leonor Espinal presented her latest artistic endeavor, “Other Waters,” at WAO Gallery & Cultural Center. This exhibition marks her eighth solo showcase, in which she ventures into experimentation and embraces new media, showcasing her adeptness in painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography, and more.

With 25 years of experience, her work, from installations to ceramic totems, mesmerized attendees during the opening night, turning a rainy evening into a vibrant celebration of artistic talent. Casa de Campo Resort & Villas added a touch of elegance with a complimentary toast for guests.
The exhibition features 20 works displayed in the main hall of WAO Gallery & Cultural Center until April 22, 2024, from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, closed on Sundays and Mondays.
This contemporary art exhibition invites us to encounter ourselves, leaving behind the past, destroying the boat, and swimming into “Other Waters.” The exhibition’s museography was curated by Architect Ysmael Jiménez, who has accompanied Thelma in various installations for over two decades.
Beyond artistic expression, the event also highlights the social impact initiatives supported by the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Inc. (PBO). Through programs like WAO Chavón, including WAO Innovation HUB and the Altos de Chavón Regional Archaeological Museum, PBO channels proceeds to empower vulnerable communities, promoting values of respect, solidarity, integrity, and equal opportunities.
