alfy fanjul golfFrom Wednesday March 28th through to Saturday March 31st, the 27th annual Sugar Golf Tournament was celebrated throughout Casa de Campo, with celebratory dinners and cocktail parties every night complimenting the 4-days of golf played across all of Casa de Campo’s golf courses; the Teeth of the Dog, the Links, the Dye Fore and the La Romana Country Club. And with some serious prize-money up for grabs, the competition on the courses was rather fierce, yet politely friendly of course!

A simple yet glamorous golfing event to raise funds for the Fundación MIR charity founded by Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, the Sugar Golf Tournament is headed by Alfy Fanjul and consists of 2 days of practice rounds (Wednesday and Thursday), followed by 2 days of tournament rounds (Friday and Saturday) with a different evening celebration taking place at various locations throughout the Casa de Campo resort. This year the celebrations included a welcome cocktail hosted by IBI Nautica at the Victory Club in the Marina Casa de Campo (click here for photos), a dinner at the Fanjul family’s Casa de Campo estate, Casa Grande, an Argentine BBQ hosted by Monica and Rolando Gonzalez-Bunster  (click here for photos) and ended with a dinner-dance and prize giving celebration at the La Romana Country Club (photos coming soon).

On Saturday March 31st, the second day of tournament rounds (and when the competition was really beginning to heat up), the gentlemen golfers were found playing on the La Romana Country Club and Teeth of the Dog golf courses – among them golf course designer Pete Dye himself.
