Following 2 evenings of celebratory events, including the inauguration of the new “Fan Cave” in the Marina Casa de Campo, a welcome dinner at the Casa de Campo villa of Roberto Wiell and the Honorary Chairman’s dinner hosted by Alfy Fanjul at Casa Grande, the “Los Inmortales” golf tournament played on Saturday morning the 11th of February was a nice change of pace for the baseball luminaries and a wonderful opportunity for them to behold the beauty of the Casa de Campo resort.
The day started bright and early at 7am for breakfast on the Teeth of the Dog practice range, before the Casa de Campo golfers and the baseball luminaries teed off at about 8am. The tournament was played in an “individual stroke play” format, with each foursome including 1 baseball luminary.

A chance meeting and interview with Eddy Herrera! At the end of the tournament (which was rather longer than planned), all the players enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch, again at the Teeth of the Dog practice range and a prize giving ceremony. To our great surprise and pleasure, we came across the great Dominican Merenguero, Eddy Herrera playing alongside Cuban baseball player Tony Oliva – and we nearly missed him! We took a photo of the group, did a quick interview with Tony Oliva and just as we were about to leave Paola Marte, Casa de Campo Living’s new journalist suddenly recognized Eddy and got a quick impromptu interview! Paola: How do you like golf in Casa de Campo? Eddy Herrera: Maravilloso! Maravilloso! Maravilloso! [So it would seem Eddy Herrera is rather a big fan of golf in Casa de Campo!] Full video interview and more photos of Eddy Herrera on the Teeth of the Dog in Casa de Campo – coming soon!
