Last night, Casa de Campo welcomed the arrival of some very special and famous guests – the Baseball Luminaries of the “Salon de la Fama del Beisbal Latino” (the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame), who will be staying in Casa de Campo, La Romana this weekend for the 3rd annual exaltations to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame.

Celebrations began with the inauguration of the “Salon de la Fama Fan Cave”, located on the Paseo del Mar in the Marina Casa de Campo and continued with a dinner hosted by Roberto Weill, the founder and president of the Salon de la Fama del Beisbal Latino around the pool of his beautiful Casa de Campo villa. Decades of baseball legends were in attendance at these events, both those being exalted into the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame this year, as well as past luminaries from the classes of 2011 and 2010. Lucky Casa de Campo guests were able to rub shoulders with the likes of New York Yankee’s center fielder Bernie Williams of Puerto Rico, Andrés Galarraga from Venezuela, Tony Oliva from Cuba (picture right), Bengamín Oglivie of Panama, Dominican legend “Don Felipe” (Felipe Rojas Alou) and Tommy Lasorda, also one of the founders of the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame – all of whom were more than happy to pose for a photo or two.

The 3rd annual exaltations to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame

Over the next 2 days these Latino baseball legends will be taking part in the following special events and activities for the 3rd annual exaltations to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame:

“Paseo de los Inmortales”
The immortalization ceremony of those players exalted in 2011 and unveiling of baseball statues, the baseball legends will be in attendance for autographs and photos.
Where: Central park in La Romana town
When: Friday February 10th, 4pm

Honorary Chairman’s Dinner
This is a private by-invitation-only event hosted by Alfy Fanjul, CEO of the Central Romana Corporation and the honorary chairman of the Salon de la Fama del Beisbal Latino. Attendees will include VIP Casa de Campo guests and the baseball luminaries with their families.
Where: Casa Grande, Casa de Campo
When: Friday February 10th, 8pm

“Los Inmortales” Golf Tournament
Your chance to play with a Baseball legend! Each group of 3 golfers will be joined by a baseball luminary.
When: Saturday January 11th, 8am
Where: Teeth of the Dog, Casa de Campo
Cost: USD$195 (golf only), USD$500 (VIP events package)

“Grand Exaltation Ceremony”
The exaltation ceremony for the class of 2012.
Where: Altos de Chavón’s amphitheater
When: Saturday 11th February, 8pm

The Latino Baseball Hall of Fame (el salón de la fama del beísbol latino), founded by Roberto Weill with Alfy Fanjul and Rafael Avila in 2009, aims to celebrate the achievements of  hispanic and Caribbean Major League Baseball players – who are largely absent from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in New York
