The MIR Bazaar: A fashionable success!

This post is also available in: Spanish

On Saturday the 16th of April, whilst the men and lady-golfers were out enjoying the sun and playing their last round of golf in the 26th annual Sugar Golf Tournament, the rest of the ladies of Casa de Campo were enjoying a delicious lunch and a spot of shopping at the La Romana Country Club at the MIR Bazaar hosted by Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, founder of the Fundacion MIR.

The MIR Bazaar and the Ladies Luncheon is an important part of the Sugar Golf tournament – not just because it keeps the ladies entertained, but also because a percentage of all sales made during the bazaar are donated to the Fundacion MIR. The Fundacion MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide eduction and health services to the children and people of La Romana most in need.

Shopping!

As hundreds of Casa de Campo’s ladies arrived at the la Romana Country Club, they were surprised and thrilled to find that the clubhouse had been turned into a shoppers paradise with tables spilling with jewelry, rails of clothing and other tempting gifts, paintings, art, candles and all sorts of other knik-knacks, just waiting to be bought!

As well as shopping, ladies were treated to a delicious lunch (and a few glasses of wine) and somewhere in between enjoying the main course and indulging on a little too much desert a fashion show took place, by Sissy Bermudez, called ‘Collecion Sabor a Mi Tierra.’ All the clothes were modelled by the children of Casa de Campo parents, with the youngest model being Lyanne, the daughter of Lyanne Azqueta, the President of the Fundacion MIR, who was simply adorable!

Tropical Fashions

Pairing a little charitable shopping with a delicious buffet lunch and a fashion show made for the perfect ladies lunch!
Here are a few of photos of the event and the fashion show:
