barlovento fest funny girlOn Saturday April 27th, 2013, Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and visitors, enjoyed the Barlovento·Portofino Fest in the Marina Casa de Campo sponsored by Costa Nurseries, which began from 5pm with a variety of different activities to welcome the Spring. The first to arrive were the smallest. Dozens of children ran around the Marina Casa de Campo, playing with balloons shaped like animals, while others enjoyed having their faces painted in many cute designs. Drawings of bunnies, spider webs, princesses and many others were glimpsed on the faces of the little ones.

In addition, a young couple encouraged the party with songs, toys and fun activities and games. The laughter of parents, friends, family and the little ones echoed around the Plaza Portofino of the Marina Casa de Campo.

jenny barloventoThe shops and boutiques of the Marina Casa de Campo were eager to take part too! Several businesses welcome customers with discounts of up to 50% off! And if that were not enough, some of them had prepared a cocktail and picaderas for their clients. It was a great day for shopping in the Marina Casa de Campo – especially at the Jenny Polanco Store, who was hosting a very special “sample sale.” And so as night fell… the delicious aroma of the flowers illuminating every corner of the Calle Barlovento avenue got stronger and stronger. Thanks Costa Nursery – the flowers were spectacular! By 7pm, the children’s show had ended and the visitors made their way into the Plaza Portofino to dine at one of the restaurants in the area; Chinois, Café Juanita, Peperoni, Limoncello and La Casita La Marina – many of which had prepared special food and entertainment for the occasion. There was a “Tablao Español” with Flamenco dancing and Paella at La Casita de La Marina on the Paseo del Mar, Tacos at Café Juanita, a delicious cocktail to celebrate the launch of “Mademoiselle Blue” in Hippolito and of course, the eagerly anticipated “all you can eat” special at Chinois Chinese restaurant.

What buffet! In Chinois, diners enjoyed a magnificent spread of Egg Rolls, shrimp and pork dumplings, chicken peking crepes, a variety of sushi, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken and mixed chofan. All this for only $1000 pesos! Well, my favorite dishes were the mixed chofan and the sushi. Hmmm how delicious – please organise another one again soon Chinois!!

To close the event, there were several musical performances, among them the electronic Saxo by Reny Saxo Vargas, as well as some sultry son with One Na Má.

The Barlovento·Portofino Fest 2013 was excellent – Congratulations to the Marina Casa de Campo!
