The Casa de Campo Yacht Club and the Marina Casa de Campo have just announced that the ‘International Casa de Campo Sailing Week 2012′ will take place from the 7th to the 12th of February.
The annual event held every year in February in the waters outside the Marina Casa de Campo, was celebrated for the first time in February 2006, when it was called the ‘Casa de Campo Regatta Copa Presidente.’ This year however, the event grew from a 2 day event to a 3 day event and was called the ‘Casa de Campo Regatta’ and now next year (2012), with the aim of turning the regatta into an internationally recognized event, the event’s organizers have decided to expand the event to take place over one week and have renamed the regatta ‘International Casa de Campo Sailing Week.’
As in previous years, the regatta will be inviting a variety of racing boats to enter; spinnaker cruising, non-spinnaker boats and multihulls, all of which will take part in a mix of races to be sailed out just off the coast of Casa de Campo, as well as around nearby Catalina island. They will also be doing, for the first time, a race along Casa de Campo’s shore, an extremelly fun and competitive regatta called ‘Coastal Race’.
At the end of every day the a successful day’s sailing will be celebrated by the sailors quay-side along the Marina Casa de Campo’s Paseo del Mar with cocktails and prize-giving ceremony, when members of the Casa de Campo and La Romana community will be invited to join in the festivities and enjoy the nautical spirit of the event.
