Chivas_18_There is probably nothing the Casa de Campo community loves more than a night out with friends, and when that night comes courtesy of Chivas and in the form of a celebration, well then we have the blend for a perfect night. And while we seem to have the good fortune to enjoy these kind of perfect nights with frequency, the most recent took place on Friday May 8th at the terrace of the Casa de Campo pool. The occasion was the launch of Chivas’ second collaboration with Pininfarina, creators of Ferarri (since the 1950’s) and the creative force behind Maserati. The product was Chivas 18 by Pininfarina, a project “characterized by delivering a luxury experience to its customers through its innovative design”.

While the Chivas 18 held within this exquisite limited edition is the same rich and flavorful whisky that has earned international reclaim, it is the presentation that makes the Chivas 18 by Pininfarina unique. In addition to the precision engineered casing created from high-grade silicone, the special edition kit includes moulds for ice droplets, two aluminium callipers and a pair of “drop” glasses, all also designed by Pinifarina with the aim to allow the consumer to replicate and enjoy the “ritual of the ice drop”. And the special guest was Ken Lindsey, global brand ambassadors for the Chivas Brothers, a Scotsman who charmed the Casa de Campo guests with his accented Spanish, and Celtic charm which had everyone toasting the new product with a hearty cry of “Slangiva” (pronounced “slangiva” and meaning “cheers” in Gaelic). Chivas_18_3 In the end these 3 magic ingredients blended into a fun evening that saw Casa de Campo villa owners enjoying a fun evening drinking Chivas 18 in 4 different ways (my favorite was the chocolate one)… In fact is was so fun that many continued the party at Café Marietta in Altos de Chavón, meanwhile myself and Philip stayed for dinner at La Caña with Ken Lindsey and Juan Carlos Gonzalez, general manager of Pernod Ricard Dominicana. A dinner that turned into our own after party with plenty for Chivas and singing….. Yes singing. But I’ll save that story for another day!
