The town of La Romana represents one of the Dominican Republic’s most economically active areas with tourism playing a major role in it’s continued development and the La Romana Chamber of Commerce’s is working hard to ensure that La Romana’s growth continues.
For example, the Cámara de Comercio y Producción de La Romana (La Romana’s Chamber of Commerce) recently rejected an increase of 18% of the cost of electricity, which was proposed by the Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) (International Monetary Fund), as well as regularize the costs of all other basic services required by residents and businesses in La Romana. By ensuring that these services are provided and a constant and reasonable cost, the La Romana Chamber of Commerce is able to help businesses succeed and flourish in La Romana – ensuring continued economic stability in the area.
According to Danilo Mañaná, president of the La Romana Chamber of Commerce, increasing service costs will harm all economical activities, the development of small and medium enterprises as well as the competition within the business sector.
Focused on their mission to protect and promote the market in La Romana, the La Romana Chamber of Commerce institution has recently organized various activities in order to raise money and awareness. For example, the “La Romana Open Golf Tournament”, which took place at the La Estancia Golf Resort on the 8th of October 2011 was an activity organized by the La Romana Chamber of Commerce.
