Last Saturday the 7th of May, the residents and villa owners of Casa de Campo celebrated the opening of a new art exhibit ‘Dual Bearings’ in the Marina Casa de Campo.  The art exhibit ‘Dual Bearings’ featured 2 British artists; James Adams and Shelley Longford and the opening was celebrated with a cocktail hosted by Ron Barcelo, which was well attended by Casa de Campo’s art-loving community as well as a large number of teachers from the Abraham Lincoln School, which is were both James and Shelley work. The exhibit features an interesting variety of paintings; with both artists drawing inspiration form their tropical experiences in the Dominican Republic but interpreting this in two totally different ways. James work, whilst featuring some hints at the Dominican countryside, is very abstract, colorful and vibrant, whilst Shelley’s paintings are literal representations of objects, plants and scenes such as sea shells, the Caribbean sea and exotic flowers. Both artists possess considerable skill, which is reflected with their paintings which were greatly admired by the exhibit’s many guests. The exhibition will be open from the 7th of May through to May 29th in the art gallery on the Paseo del Mar, close to La casita restaurant in the Marina Casa de Campo. Here are my photos of the paintings: It was a fun evening in which the two artists enjoyed talking about their paintings, telling interested visitors the stories, inspiration and hidden messages behind each one and of course everyone very much enjoyed one or two rum cocktails! Here are my photos of everyone having a good time: [nggallery id=843] Coming soon: photos of the after party in Onno’s Bar!
