The end of the school year at the Fundacion Lirio del Valle was a party celebrated with cake, ice cream, presents and even clowns – during which the children, helpers as well as the volunteers and sponsors from the Casa de Campo community has a wonderful time!
The Fundacion Lirio del Valle is a charity project founded by Casa de Campo villa owner Anna Maria Plá in 2009, who with a mixed group of volunteers from the Dominican Republic, La Romana, Casa de Campo and Spain work to help the children from Villa Caoba, one of La Romana’s poorest areas, providing them with education, clothing, food, school supplies and toys.
The end of year party was held at Villa Caoba in La Romana and was sponsored by local La Romana toy store Chiquilandia who added animation to the party with 3 circus clowns and also donated a large collection of school supplies such as back packs, books, pens and pencils
To provide for these children the Fundación Lirio del Valle has sponsorship programs – allowing donors to help by sponsoring a child for just US$35 a month or US$420 per year to provide meals, after-school help and recreational activities as well as school equipment, schooling and school uniform – all sponsors are welcome and encouraged to visit and form a bond with their sponsored child.
Also at the celebration with the more than 100 children and Ana Maria was Casa de Campo villa owner, Dolly, who had just returned from a holiday in Europe and was so excited and happy to take part in this wonderful celebration that she kindly donated the ice cream and presents – which turned the celebration into a real party and put big smiles on all the children’s faces!
