Last Friday the 8th of January the very first Cafe de La Leche of 2010 was held in the Casa de Campo home of Ana Maria Paniagua. It was a spectacular evening – the view from Ana’s house down towards the Marina Casa de Campo was stunning; the perfect backdrop to such a fancy and fun event! Over 100 of Casa de Campo’s ladies and their daughters turned out to support the event – bringing with them tins of milk and industrial-size bags of cereals to be donated to the Hogar del Niño‘s Sala Cuna to feed the over 200 babies they house there. Ana was the perfect hostess, she spent most of her time at the door welcoming and greeting the many guests and making sure the event was a success, which it was! The waiters were very efficient, serving a variety of drinks, from a delicious fruity punch, to wine and coffee. The food buffet was, as I have come to expect delicious, especially the freshly-cooked never-ending supply of pastelitos, which seemed to be everyone’s favourite! The Cafe de la Leche, is a monthly event which brings together Casa de Campo’s ladies to enjoy a light snack, a few drinks and pleasant conversation with the added bonus of contributing to the Hogar del Niño charity. Each lady brings a donation of dried milk, cereal or baby formula, which is then passed on to the Hogar del Niño’s crib room where it is provides 40% of the milk needed each month.
