casa wine shop golf tournament - casa de campo living Last Thursday the 1st of April, a group of over 50 intrepid golfers took part in the First Annual Casa Wine Shop Golf Tournament at La Estancia and despite rather a lot of rain it was great fun!The tournament began at 1pm shotgun, with rather ominous-looking grey skies overhead,  with everyone  in very high spirits and raring to go – we all zoomed to our allocated tee. I was playing with my parents and my boyfriend Philip – of the 4 of us, only 1 can be considered a ‘serious’ golfer and so we were looking forward to having some fun with just a slim possibility of actually playing some ‘real’ golf….. The La Estancia golf course is really very beautiful and we really enjoyed playing the first 7 holes – me especially who was playing the game of my life, with 3 pars (without cheating at all!) Unfortunately, after that is started to rain, and pour and we all got a little wet! I, however was playing so well that I persevered (like we do in England) and kept playing! Here I am enjoying the rain and the golf: smile through the rain, la estancia - casa de campo living As the rain continued, we were all forced to hide inside our golf carts (which due to the angle of the rain did very little to actually keep us dry.) Pass the beer! hiding from the rain! la estancia - casa de campo living And so despite my protests (I was determined to continue) the tournament had to be cancelled and we all headed back to the clubhouse. 🙁 rain rain la estancia!! casa de campo living Of course, just because the tournament was over did not mean the event was – out came the rain and with it came the wine, cheese and other nibbles! Myself and the other guests were of course a little disappointed that the rain kept us from playing more golf, but we were nevertheless pleased with the great selection of wines and the lovely cheeses to go with them! avanzini, la estancia - casa de campo living To finish the event was the prize-giving ceremony and because there were no actual winners all the prizes went into the raffle – there were so many prizes nearly everyone won something! In fact there were 20 prizes, plus a case of wine and bottles of wine and with all the wonderful wine to drink at the bar – everyone went home happy! I left especially happy because I won 2 prizes in the raffle – Philip (my adoring boyfriend) won a $200 gift voucher for Everett Design Jewellery, which he will (obviously) use to buy me something nice AND I actually won a 3 hour massage at Six Senses Spa in Punta Cana. Here are all my photos of the prize-giving: Carol Trembley and Pierre Gagnon who organised the event would like to thank all their sponsors, who generous donated prizes – which made the tournament even more fun!
