mcdaniel tennis casa de campoFrom Thursday March 15th to Sunday March 18th 2012, the “McDaniel Teaching Pro’s Tournament” was held at the La Terraza tennis club and the La Romana Country Club in Casa de Campo to benefit of the Ball Boy’s Scholarship Foundation with exciting games enjoyed by many Casa de Campo residents, visitors and villa owners! This year for the first time, the tournament was inaugurated with a “doubles exhibition pro-set match”, played on Wednesday afternoon at 5pm, after the “sponsors luncheon” hosted at the Casa de Campo villa of Rick McDaniel (click here for photos.) With the participation of the La Romana and La Terraza tennis club’s two best players; Edwin Concepcion and Francisco Guerrero of La Romana Country Club and Pedro Nolasco and Jose Santana of La Terraza, selected by Adonis Berroa and Emilio Vasquez, director of the Casa de Campo tennis department. mcdaniel tennis casa de campo During the four day event, the tournament was played out in 5 exciting rounds, with the participation of tennis professionals and ball boys from both the La Romana and La Terraza tennis clubs in Casa de Campo. The opening game was held on the morning of Thursday the 15th of March, when Helen Wynne, this year’s honorary chairman and loved member of Casa de Campo community, served the first ball to  Pedro Nolasco, who was last year’s champion.

On Sunday March the 18th, the moment finally arrived; the final match of the McDaniel Teaching Pro’s Tournament! An eagerly anticipated amongst the Casa de Campo tennis community, no less than 80 Casa de Campo residents, visitors and villa owners arrived at 4pm to the La Romana Country Club to witness, what was certainly an extraordinary game played between Pedro Nolasco and Francisco Concepción, which after a close battle ended in just two sets with Pedro Julio Nolasco crowned the champion for the 3rd consecutive year!

alfonso paniagua After finishing the game, both players and the rest of the ball boys, teachers, sponsors, family and spectators, enjoyed a wonderful dinner and prize-giving ceremony in the gardens of La Romana Country Club – PHOTOS and coverage of this event will be published very soon! Congratulations to all participants and winners, especially Francisco and Pedro for such a great final match!
