Polo, known for its intensity and vigor, has been deemed the ‘Sport of Kings,’ and is gaining a lot of ground in the Dominican Republic. Recently, the 11th Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa, presented by CasaLife, brought with it a tremendous victory by the Lechuza CTE team, and unprecedented elegance by attendees with a theme characterized by, “El Polo esta de Moda” (Polo is in Fashion). We are thrilled to inform you that this year caps off with the announcement of the Dominican Republic Polo Challenge.
For the first-time ever, the Dominican Republic will host a professional high-goal polo event of four consecutive tournaments, whose series will form part of the World Polo Tour. This first high-goal season begins in January and will run through April of 2016. Among the distinguished entrepreneurs who have made this project a reality are: Los Establos at Cap Cana, Lechuza Caracas RD, and Casa de Campo.
The Dominican Republic Polo Challenge is attracting some of the best polo players around the world, including: Adolfo Cambiaso, Juan Martin Nero, David Sterling, Ignacio Toccalino, Jose Donoso, Gaston Lisioli, Juan Gaureche, and Andrew James, allowing our country to position itself alongside Argentina, the United States, England, France, Spain and Dubai, countries with the highest level of polo.
We, at Silgon, are very committed to polo, and in recent years have contributed our bit in the development of this sport within our caribbean island, in the organization of the last two editions of the Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa, presented by CasaLife. The 11th edition of this celebrated event was held back in April of this year, and its lively recap of style and athleticism can be seen here.
