From May 24th through to May 26th, the 17th annual Caribbean Golf Classic was played in Casa de Campo on the resort’s 3 Pete Dye designed golf courses; Teeth of the Dog, Links and Dye Fore and for the first time in the tournament’s 17 year history – the Dominican Republic won!
The Caribbean Golf Classic golf tournament organized by FEDOGOLF (the Dominican golf organization) and conducted by the Caribbean Golf association, is an international event played between the golfers of different Caribbean countries, who compete in male and female teams for the Robert Grell trophy and the Jodie Munn-Barrow trophy, respectively. This year the Dominican Republic not only won the Robert Grell trophy but also the Jodie Munn-Barrow trophy as well as the George Noon trophy awarded to the overall winner of the tournament!

10 teams took part in the 17th annual Caribbean Golf Classic; Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, the US Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Barbados and the OECS (the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States which represents; Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Granada, Montserrat , Saint Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines).
The event began on Wednesday evening the 23rd of May when the international group of players warmed up ahead of the tournament with a practice round and got to know each other at a welcome cocktail hosted at Casa de Campo’s beautiful Minitas Beach.
On each day of the 3-day event the 99 male golfers and the 52 lady golfers played 18 holes, playing 1 tournament round on each of Casa de Campo’s outstanding golf courses; Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore and the newly refurbished Links.
To celebrate the end of the tournament, a farewell dinner and prize-giving ceremony was celebrated at the newly refurbished Flamboyan Conference Centre.
