Last Friday the 5th of November, the residents and villa owners of Casa de Campo were treated to a very special night of rum and cigars at the Casa Montecristo in Altos de Chavón with delicious high-end rum, Ron Zacapa.  The event’s distinguished guests were welcomed by Ruben Gonzalez, Commercial Director for the Casa Montecristo and Francis Lora, Brand Manager for distilled liquors for United Brands, the company who represents Ron Zacapa in the Dominican Republic. The evening was lead by Philip Ili, the regional ambassador of Ron Zacapa who in his welcome speech commented on what a good pairing Ron Zacapa and cigars make – the ideal combination to share among friends. Ron Zacapa has very unique characteristics, which come from the use of  virgin honey, sugar cane and molasses extracted from the first pressing of the cane, in it’s production. Whilst Ron Zacapa led the rum tasting and Philip Ili guided the guest on the art of tasting the rum, Casa Montecristo offered the evening’s cigar lovers the best selection of handmade Dominican cigars, brought straight from the factory.
The Casa Montecristo is the cigar shop and visitor centre to the Tabacalera de Garcia, the world’s largest handmade cigar factory and where fine Dominican cigars such as the Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann, Don Diego, Santa Damiana, VegaFina, and Onyx are handcrafted. The Tabacalera de Garcia cigar factory is located just outside of Casa de Campo and is open to the public, for tours, to read more about the Tabacalera de Garcia and the factory tour, click here.
