Last Saturday afternoon the 12th of September, eager teams of 5 golfers will be teed off from the Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore golf courses, thus starting the epic two-day battle which was the annual Biggest Five Super Scramble! The competition was part of an entire weekend golf package which included a practice round on Friday afternoon, and two competition rounds on the Teeth of the Dog and the Dye Fore golf courses.

What is a Scramble tournament?

In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.

This two day Golf extravaganza, which concluded with the victory of Carlitos Arias’s team was played with high expectations, with teams having golf balls at only 225-240 yards from the flag. A complex obstacle.

The Congressman for La Romana, Mr. Teodoro Ursino, who took part in the event and very generously agreed to talk to us about his experience of the tournament:

“It was a successful game, we had an excellent climate and Saturday’s game was played shotgun. The team that best played finished 15 under par, thus obtaining first place. One team finished 13 under par and 10 teams were tied 12 under par.

On Sunday, we moved to Teeth of the Dog, where we had yet another successful game. We had pleasant climate in our favor and once again we played shotgun at 8:45am. At 8:50am, the game commenced and one team ended 16 under par.

After the game was over, we headed to Lago Grill Restaurant, where a special lunch was held as an award ceremony for the victorious team. At this special Lunch, Mr.Gilles Gagnon, expressed the intention of institutionalizing the Biggest Five Super Scramble golf tournament as an event to be held yearly.”

Mr.Ursino also mentioned that there were no organizational drawbacks and everything went according to plan, and how he never ceases to be impressed by the beauty and perfection of the Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore golf courses.

Special Thanks to Mr.Teodoro Ursino for his hospitality in providing us with information.
