As we begin a New Year, the year 2012 – let’s take a moment to remember all the best moments and successes of the year 2011! With the next Fundación MIR fundraising event coming up in just few weeks (click here for more info), here we bring you some great memories of all the good times we’ve shared with the Fundación MIR, as well as the foundation’s numerous successes and achievements over the last year!
The Fundación MIR – Achievements 2011!
A charity, who’s principle focus is education, the Fundación MIR was thrilled to celebrate a number of special occasions at their schools in La Romana in the year 2011:
On Tuesday the 27th of December 2011, a group of the Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and visitors enjoyed an interpretation of the magical Christmas Story (the “Nacimiento Viviente”) performed by the children of the Fundación MIR on the Altos de Chavón’s main plaza in front of the St Stanislaus church.
In August 2011, the”Fundación MIR” and “MIR Esperanza” schools celebrated the graduation of 132 students with a graduation ceremony held at the Inmaculado Corazon de Maria School.
The 3rd “Voice Festival” at the “Técnico Vocacional MIR” school
The Fundación MIR’s “The Voice” contest was celebrated on Monday the 24th of October 2011, with the participation of talented students from three different programs competing for the first three places!
On Friday the 2nd of September 2011 the Fundación MIR charity, based La Romana and Casa de Campo, celebrated the inauguration of a new cooking facility at it’s MIR Esperanza school for boys.
On Monday the 27th of June 2011 NBA basketball legend, Lebron James took a little time out from his Casa de Campo vacation to meet the rising basketball stars of the Fundacion MIR.
Inauguration of the Fundación MIR’s new School: The Primaria MIR Monday the 27th of December 2010, the inauguration of the Fundacion MIR’s newest school the ‘Primaria MIR’ was celebrated at the school itself, with all the children, their teachers and a group of VIP’s, all of whom were thrilled to see this important project come to life!
The Fundación MIR – fundraising events in 2011
In an effort to continue expanding and improving their schools, the Fundación MIR has hosted a glamourous series of fundraising event in Casa de Campo:
The annual Fundación MIR “Magical Splendor for Life Weekend 2011” took place over the weekend of the 21st to the 23rd of January 2011 with a sensational dinner-dance gala with an unforgettable fashion show by Badgley Mischka in Altos de Chavón and a golf tournament played on the la Romana Country Club golf course in Casa de Campo.
On Saturday the 13th of August, the Fundación MIR Family Weekend for Life event was celebrated in Casa de campo with fun golf and tennis tournaments, followed by a wonderful celebratory dinner, dance and after party! Here we bring you a summary of all the fun!
On Thursday the 29th of December 2011, the Fanjul Family, along with luxury jewelry brand, Cartier celebrated the 20th annual Cartier Benefit, an event which has to date, raised over 2 million dollars for both charities; the Fundación MIR and the Hogar del Niño.
The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (elementary school).
