This weekend, Friday November 2nd to Sunday November 4th, the 8th annual “Copa Funglode” golf tournament will be played on Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog and La Romana Country Club golf courses.
The “Copa FUNGLODE” golf tournament is hosted annually to raise funds for activities, projects, research and publications provided by the FUNGLODE foundation (the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo or in English, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development) to meet the objectives it set nine years ago, which are based on strengthening democracy and human development in the Dominican Republic.
The tournament, in which more than 150 golfers are expected to participate will be played in an individual stable-ford format and will be accompanied by a series of social engagements, in addition to the 3rd annual Dominican Golf Forum.
As the honorable president of FUNGLODE, former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernandez is expected to officially open the tournament with a “saque de honor” (the putt of honor), as well as participate in the prize-giving ceremony on Saturday evening – as he did during last year’s celebration.

Last year the Copa Funglode golf tournament was celebrated on Friday and Saturday the 9th and 10th of December with the esteemed presence of former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernandez.
