This weekend, from the 11th through to the 13th of August, the 7th annual Haitian art exhibit will be open in Casa de Campo at Punta Minitas #37.
The annual exhibit, now in it’s 7th edition is being presented by Galerie Monnin and José Buera and once again promises to be an impressive collection of Haitian artwork; from both contemporary Haitian artists, as well as late masters, such as Pascale Monnin, Gabriel Coutard, Dubreus Lherisson and Fritzner Lamour – with all pieces being transported by land from Haiti by Director of Galerie Monnin, Gael Monnin herself.
The exhibit will be open Saturday evening the 11th of August from 7pm (during the inauguration party) as well as on Sunday and Monday the 12th and 13th of August from 12pm – 5pm.
“We are dedicated to the preservation, collection, and display of contemporary and modern folk art from Haiti. We endeavor to export the highest quality exhibitions in contemporary settings to share these works so that the public may appreciate them and derive some inspiration for not only owing quality art but also collecting.”
— Gael Monnin, Director of Galerie Monnin Haiti and Worldwide
As has become the tradition, the exhibit will be inaugurated in typical Haitian style on Saturday evening the 11th of August from 7pm with Vodou drummers starting off the evening’s entertainment and DJ Two Crowns, who has flown in from Paris especially for the event, keeping the party going all night! The entertainment is being sponsored by Quadracci Vieux&Sons Coffee, who based in Haiti are working to revive the country’s once thriving coffee industry.
Guests are invited to sip Haiti’s famous Barbancourt rhum, whilst admiring the fine Haitian art work.
AND for those of you who will be attending the Fundación MIR Family Weekend for Life dinner-dance on Saturday evening (from 8pm at Minitas Beach), Gael and José have asked us to let you know that you are more than welcome to stop by the inauguration event either before or after!
