The 3rd annual celebratory week to mark the 2012 exaltations to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame will be celebrated in Casa de Campo and La Romana from the 9th to 12th of February with a comprehensive program of commemorative events and activities, culminating with the “Grand Exaltation Ceremony” in the Altos de Chavón amphitheater on Saturday the 11th of February.
The Latino Baseball Hall of Fame (el salón de la fama del beísbol latino), founded by Roberto Weill with Alfy Fanjul and Rafael Avila in 2009, aims to celebrate the achievements of hispanic and Caribbean Major League Baseball players – who are largely absent from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in New York.
This year the 3 day celebration will include numerous private “by-invitation-only-events” for the “luminarias” (players who are being exalted into the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame), their families and various VIP Casa de Campo guests. These special events will include inauguration of the “Salon de la fama” office and Fan Cave, dinners being hosted by Roberto Weill, founder and president of the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame as well as Alfy Fanjul, honorary chairman, a golf tournament on the Teeth of the Dog and an after-party following the “Exaltation Ceremony.”
Whilst there are some events which are not open to everyone, the schedule of activities does include a number of activities which everyone is cordially invited to enjoy; the “Paseo de los Inmortales”, immortalization ceremony of those players exalted in 2011 which will take place in La Romana town and the 3rd “Grand Exaltation Ceremony” on Saturday the 11th of February at 8pm in the Altos de Chavón amphitheater.
This year 12 players will be exalted to the Latino Baseball Hall of fame in the 3rd annual “Grand Exaltation Ceremony”; Tony Oliva (Cuba), Aurelio Rodriguez (Mexico), Bengamín Oglivie (Panama), Bernie Williams (Puerto Rico), Tony Peña (Dominican Republic), Manny Trillo (Venezuela), Ramón Bragaña (Cuba), Angel Castro (Mexico), Pat Scantlebury (Panama), Luis Tite Arroyo (Puerto Rico), Diomedes Guayubín Olivo (Dominican Republic), Alejandro Patón Carrasquel (Venezuela).
