The Team USA delegation won first place and the ‘Copa Pais’ of the 12th edition of the DR Open Amateur 2022, an event that started on Monday, October 3rd, and ended this past weekend at the Teeth of the Dog, The Links and Dye Fore in Casa de Campo, where more than 150 players from various countries took part, organized by the Dominican Golf Federation (FEDOGOLF), with a focus on the development of golf tourism in the country. The event was sponsored by Mastercard Banreservas, Casa de Campo, Emilio’s, Brugal, and Light Sky. It is worth mentioning that the Argentine footballer and former FC Barcelona player, Kun Agüero (Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo), was participating in the tournament.

Mauro Lerda, from Argentina, won the best gross score with 105 points, while Dorian Vargas (team USA captain) got the best net score, with 119. In category A, Christian Núñez (Team USA) was the best with 244. Luis Matos (Dom Rep.) won Senior A, with 238. Category B was dominated by Juan Alvarado (Team USA), who finished with 80. Orlando Meneses (Team USA) rose in Senior B, with 82. Other winners Yovanny Marte (Dom. Rep.) dominated category C, with 57. The Senior C category was won by Luis Salcedo (Team USA), with 55. Víctor Cirilo (Team USA) won category D, with 22. Mario Saviñón (Rep.Dom.) obtained Super Senior A with a score of 82. Master Senior B was won by Ildebrando Arévalo (Colombia), who finished with 33. For its part, the Ladies A and B categories were dominated by Elida Gonnela (Team USA), with 59, and Sonia Raymund (Team USA), who finished with 34 points. The award ceremony for the international event took place at Minitas Beach, in Casa de Campo, where the directors of Fedogolf thanked Mastercard Banreservas for their support, in addition to the other brands that made it possible to set up the event, which brought together players from different countries in an atmosphere of camaraderie and fraternity, which raises golf tourism in the country.
