Next Wednesday the 24th of April the Altos de Chavón Regional Museum of Archeology invites you to a presentation “Protección, Reciclaje y Sostenibilidad para un mejor planeta” being presented by Jake Kheel, Director of the Environmental Department of the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation.
The talk which will begin at 6pm and will be held inside the Altos de Chavón Regional Museum of Archeology will discuss the remarkable job the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation for protection, recycling and sustainability in the local community and across the Dominican Republic.
The Punta Cana Ecological Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation established in 1994 to protect and preserve the natural resources of the Punta Cana region, while contributing to the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic. Our five main areas of action are:
1. Center for Sustainability
2. PESCA: Partnership for Ecologically Sustainable Coastal Areas
3. Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park and Reserve
4. Sustainable Agriculture
5. Zero Waste
6. Protection of the “Gavilán de la Hispaniola” (Hispaniola Hawk)
7. Managing organic waste through “Vermicompost” (the product or process of composting using various worms)
A visit to the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation
For those interested in the environment, the Regional Archaeological Museum Altos de Chavon is organising a tour to the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation to get to know the environmental protection initiative they are implementing with excellent results. Especially interesting and successful is their “ZERO WASTE”, recycling and collection program.
This will take place on Tuesday May 14th, leaving from Altos de Chavón/Casa de Campo at 9:30 a.m. out and returning at 2:00 pm.
