On Saturday the 13th of February 2021, Casa de Campo golfers were out and about and teeing off around the La Romana Country Club course at the XXIV Hogar del Niño golf tournament following all health and safety protocols as well as social distancing.

Every year, the Patronato Benéfico Oriental organizes its annual Hogar del Niño weekend as the perfect way for the community to have fun and be charitable. This year, things were a bit different, but as always, the continued support of the community for the event will once again have the same or greater impact on the lives of the children and youth of the Hogar del Niño and their communities.

Upon arrival, the players were greeted by the staff of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, who following all health and safety protocols, handed them this year’s goody bag. Then, they all had the opportunity to practice their swings and putts before starting the tournament.

The tournament featured two tee-off times, one early in the morning, and the other in the afternoon in order for the entire community to have a chance to get involved. Both groups of players, whether they played in the morning or the afternoon enjoyed a fun round of golf played as a ‘scrabble’ so that randomly selected groups of friends and new friends worked together to get the best possible score! The golfers were also treated to various goodies on their way around – delicious food thanks to Casa de Campo, cigars, coffee, and refreshing drinks among other things!

“Our goal during this tournament was to raise funds to provide access to quality learning for everyone by investing in literacy and digital infrastructure for our children and youth at the Hogar del Niño. We thank all the players, sponsors, and contributors who made this event possible. Only united can we give hope! Thanks for BEING PBO.” – Patronato Benéfico Oriental.

Below are the results and images of this year’s Fundación MIR’s “Golf for Education” Tournament! Congratulations to everyone who took part and of course to all the winners! See you next year for the Hogar del Niño Weekend XXV!
