Last Sunday the 5th of February was Super Bowl Sunday and all over Casa de Campo in private villas and in Casa de Campo´s many restaurants and bars, people gathered to watch the Super Bowl with their family and friends! As we live and work in Altos de Chavón (and because we were tempted by the burgers) we decided to watch the Super Bowl at Oneburger.

As any true football fan would know the Super Bowl pre-game began at 4pm, which as far as we were concerned was the perfect excuse to finish work early and head to Oneburger for a bucket of beers in the sunshine! By 5pm Oneburger (as well as neighboring Papa Jacks) was full with people drinking beers and watching the ‘pre-game’ on the giant outdoor projection screen, which was being shared by Papa Jacks.

As Philip and I were with our good friend Dan and none of us have much interest in the Super Bowl, we ended up playing our favorite board game ‘Settlers of Catan’ which was awesome – mainly because I won! Despite not actually watching the Super Bowl we did certainly join in with the spirit of Super Bowl, enjoying more than a few beers, spicy chicken wings, burgers and fries and (best of all) the Onepigskin – a pork burger, stuffed with freshly roasted pig from a Caja China! Good times!

Super Bowl? eh!? The English crew (and Philip) enjoy a good board game!

As the evening progressed and I was declared the winner of Settlers of Catan, we kept our table reserved and nipped off to the Casa Montecristo, who were hosting a cocktail and cigar tasting in honor of the Procigar festival – my photos of the cocktail will be coming soon! A few cigars and some cheeky cocktails later, we returned to Oneburger to play yet another game of Settlers of Catan (which I didn’t win) and to ‘watch’ the end of the Super Bowl – which I believe the Green Bay Packers won.

Here are my photos of the evening in Oneburger:

We LOVED the Onepigskin so much we are trying to persuade Oneburger to make it a regular feature – maybe something they will offer every Sunday? We´ll keep you posted!
