On Wednesday the 13th of April the grand opening to the 26th annual Sugar Open Golf Tournament took place at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club, an event hosted by Marina Casa de Campo business I.B.I and sponsored by Vinos S.A. and Ron Atlantico.  The Sugar Open Golf tournament, headed by Alfy Fanjul, is held every year in aid of the Fundacion MIR, a non-profit organization which works to provide eduction and health services to the children and people of La Romana most in need. The cocktail party on Wednesday marked the official opening of the tournament, which ran last week from Wednesday the 13th to Saturday the 16th of April, with dinner parties held every night at various private locations around Casa de Campo and the actual golf tournament played on Casa de Campo’s gorgeous Pete Dye Designed courses; the Teeth of the Dog, the Dye Fore and the Links.

The opening cocktail was a sophisticated soiree, set in the Casa de Campo Yacht Club’s newly refurbished club house, where guests sipped on Dom Perignon Champagne, which had been provided by Vinos S.A, whilst others enjoyed tropical Mojito cocktails mixed with Ron Atlantico Rum. The event was a great success, with the Yacht Club’s Terrace packed full with over 300 of Casa de Campo’s VIP’s and well-known personalities, dressed to impress and having a wonderful time enjoying the complimentary champagne and rum cocktails!

As part of the evening, The Sugar Open Golf Tournament host, Alfy Fanjul, took the microphone to say a few words of welcome to his distinguished guests (who take part, by invitation only), following which Mauro Caslini, of I.B.I and Tommaso Bilotta, Benetti Yachts Sales Area Manager for Latin America also said a few words. As the hosts of the evening, I.B.I were playing several mesmerizing sales videos of their incredible new Benetti Yachts, which are unbelievable beautiful.
