On Saturday the 10th of April, whilst the men and lady-golfers were out bracing the rain in a battle to win the Sugar Open, the wives and the rest of the ladies of Casa de Campo were enjoying a delicious lunch and a spot of shopping at the La Romana Country Club.
The MIR Bazaar and the Ladies Luncheon is an important part of the Sugar Open Golf tournament – not just because it keeps the ladies entertained, but also because a percentage of all sales made during the bazaar are donated to the Fundacion MIR. The Fundacion MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide eduction and health services to the children and people of La Romana most in need.
Arriving at this year’s bazaar, I was overwhelmed by the number of stalls selling everything a lady wants – clothing, handbags and jewellery!
Somewhere in between enjoying the main course and indulging on a little too much desert a fashion show took place, when Claudia Becker showcased, an adorable range of children’s clothing. All the clothes were modelled by the children of Casa de Campo parents and they were so cute strutting past our tables, showing off their clothes and their best swaggers and smiles!
