A magnificent 4-day event, gathering together some of the world’s most interesting and successful businessmen and women, the Casa de Campo Sugar golf tournament headed by Alfy Fanjul, president and CEO of the Central Romana Corporation, was once again an occasion to remember.
As is the tradition, this glamorous event was accompanied by a series of superb celebratory cocktail parties and dinners – as much a part of the gathering as the golf itself. And with numerous “first timers” mingling with those who have competed for 3 decades, the atmosphere was friendly and fun, while the golf was (understandably) taken rather seriously.
Following 4 days of golf and 3 nights of cocktails and dinners, the 4th and final celebration of the 30th annual Sugar Open Golf Tournament at the La Romana Country Club was, without the pressure of the competition behind them, the golfers’ opportunity to relax, drink, dance and be merry!
Arriving at the La Romana Country Club for the dinner-party and prize-giving celebration, guests first encountered the “Fundación MIR Bazaar” which filled the clubhouse building with all kinds of temptations for the ladies; jewelry, clothing and even accessories for the home. From the temptations of shopping, the guests then enjoyed cocktails on the terrace and a buffet style dinner surrounding the La Romana Country Club pool, where the daughters of Alfy Fanjul, Crista Ryan and Lilian Fernandez presented the many winners with their prizes and trophies. What a wonderful event!
