So many activities took place this past weekend! Starting with the Benetti Welcome Cocktail for the Sugar Golf Tournament players on Wednesday, followed by the opening of the Fundación MIR Bazaar Thursday, three days of golf for both men and women, and the women’s Tennis Tournament as well. To finish off the busy and enjoyable weekend, an Awards Ceremony took place on Saturday evening in the pool area of the La Romana Country Club.
Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who participated during the tournaments! Let’s RECAP some of the events and stay tuned for all of our coverage articles and pictures throughout the week.
Benetti Sugar Welcome Cocktail
Surrounded by the magnificent Benetti Yachts, the players and their families enjoyed refreshing drinks and delicious snacks, where they were awed by the tricks of Leonardo Mejia “The Mime.” Some danced to the beats of Jean Eric Masséna, the Saxophone player. It was a great way to start the festivities!
Sugar Golf Tournament
The days were bright and sunny with a small threat of rain but that thankfully never came. The players enjoyed games of golf both in La Romana Country Club and on the world renowned Teeth of the Dog. Each player had the opportunity to get ready for the tournament by practicing on Thursday, where they got to know the courses a bit better.
Sugar Ladies Tennis
Whilst the men, and some women participated in the golf tournament, other ladies enjoyed an animated Tennis Tournament, where they competed to see who would win the prize.
MIR Bazaar and Ladies Luncheon
As in previous years the Sugar tournament was accompanied by the MIR Bazaar, Fashion Show and Ladies Luncheon. The ‘MIR Bazaar,’ a 3-day bazaar laid out in the La Romana Country Club’s main club house, is a fantastic shopping opportunity for the ladies of Casa de Campo, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Fundacion MIR.
Sugar Awards Ceremony
Under a clear sky, beautiful surroundings were decorated with lights, the guests enjoyed a buffet dinner and drinks. Alfy Fanjul, accompanied by his daughters, Crista Ryan and Lilian Fernández, presented the tournaments victors with their prizes and trophies.
Remember that to help the Fundación MIR you don’t have to wait for a fundraiser, you can always contact the organization and see how you can support them and the wonderful job they’re doing with La Romana’s youth!
