The 1st Golf, Cigar and Music tournament, hosted by Octavio Beras Goico, producer of the Radio program “Music at 12”, and Iván Fernández, president of Events & Projects, went off without a hitch and with smiles all around from the 104 golfers who participated. In benefit of the Niños de Cristo orphanage in La Romana, golfers enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition where they competed in Stableford format with a 80% handicap at the Guavaberry Golf & Country Club.
As the name implies, the tournament had some entertaining accompaniment; Fernández said, “We staged an event that combines three great passions for golfers: golf, good music, and premium cigars.” The Silver Band, famous for their “Tributo a Santana”, performed some classics like “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye como va” at the awards luncheon held at Casa Club.
Winner for Best Score Overall went to Agustín Morillo and Wilson Santana, who were very lucky indeed! The pair took home prizes including a weeklong trip to Cancún, a Samsung Galaxy S8, bottles of Dubar Imperial rum and Loch Lomond whisky, Banco de Reservas hats, and more from the tournament’s many sponsors. Plus, a trip to Paris provided by Air Caraibes went to a very happy raffle winner!
Coco Lorenzi de Bailliencourt, manager of the boy’s orphanage at the Niños de Cristo, was so pleased to have the support of the Golf, Cigar and Music tournament and says it was an fantastic event that brought a lot of awareness to the children, and everyone enjoyed an absolutely gorgeous party afterwards.
