Last Friday, December 11th, we welcomed Christmas in the magical village of Altos de Chavón, with the lighting of the great Christmas tree and the many rooftops and cottages of Chavón. Every year, this event unites the Casa de Campo family and this year was no exception.
It is always one of the most popular and well-attended events of the year. This time featuring children dressed as Nutcracker soldiers and playing the drums, while they greeted guests at the entrance, and angels posed for pictures in front of the St. Stanislaus Church.
Renata Soñé was master of ceremonies, and later turned the stage over to Mr. Rafael Torres, who along with the Minister of Culture of the Dominican Republic, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, turned on the famous Christmas lights, formally launching Christmas 2015 in Casa de Campo.
Santa Claus made his jolly way through the crowd with cheer and stopped to take photos with all the families in front of the 25 foot tall Christmas tree! The Big Band Jazz of the National Conservatory of Music, conducted by Maestro F. Javier Vargas and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic, played magnificently throughout the night.
The special evening ended with a traditional ginger tea, very timely for the season, and we welcomed the cold breeze felt throughout the resort. We hope you all enjoy the photos of families and friends who gathered at this past weekend’s phenomenal Christmas Lighting Ceremony!
