With the aim of promoting environmental actions and reducing waste products, the Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association and the La Romana Bayahibe Tourism Cluster celebrated the seventh edition of the La Romana Recycling Contest. The event was held at Multiplaza La Romana, with the participation of eleven teams who competed to classify in the different categories.
Andrés Fernández, president of the Association of Hotels and the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster, explained that during the evaluation process of the creations they took into account the usefulness, originality, creativity, and presentation of the participating pieces. “With these initiatives, we seek to create awareness in the preservation and conservation of the environment and encourage commitment in the proper management of waste among its members for the benefit of the sustainable development of the area.” Fernandez stated.
The winner of the first place was the Hotel Hilton La Romana, the second place was for the Estrellita Las Mercedes and the third place went to Hotel Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus. A special mention was made Casa de Campo Resort & Villas (La Romana).
The La Romana Recycling Contest seeks to raise awareness about the damage to the environment and sensitize participants and society in general about Reduce, Recycle and Reuse waste.
The Jury was integrated by representatives of the Association of Hotels and the Cluster La Romana-Bayahibe, Institute of Environmental Law of the Dominican Republic, Provincial Directorate of Environment and Natural Resources, Ministry of Tourism Dominican Republic, the La Romana governmental office and La Romana Multiplaza.
The contest was sponsored by Multiplaza La Romana, Viva Wyndham Resorts, Tony Transporte RD, Página: Resicla Srl, CN Group, Luminos Lighting, MeloDrone RD, and Refri-Electro S&C .
