Semana Santa (Easter) is fast approaching – which means so are all the eagerly anticipated events and parties! And always one of the best is the finals of the Semana Santa Polo Tournament – this year (as every year) planned to take place at the Casa de Campo polo fields on Sábado Santo (Saturday March 30th) from 3pm.
Of course a polo tournament isn’t won in a day – so tomorrow the Semana Santa Polo Tournament begins with the participation of 4 excellent teams, who will battle it out to be be crowned the champions at the party, sorry I mean the finals, next Saturday the 30th of March!
The 4 participating teams are: Power Infrastructure (Miguel Mendoza, Santiago Schwietzer, Marcelo Amadeo y Videla, Omar Gorosito), Lechuza (Enrique Bonetti, Alfredo Vargas, Johnny Alvarez, Dennis Santana), Los Garcia (Rafa Garcia, R Garcia, Teto Castillo, Heriberto Constanza) and La Carbuccia Dewars 12 (Luis Alfonso Paniagua, Mario Villegas, Fermin Iturrioz, Luis Arturo Carbuccia).
I personally am particularly excited to see “Power Infrastructure” play! What an incredible team name – I hope they win, a headline using those words would be awesome!
As yet we have not receieved any more details about the party planned for the finals – but if previous years are anything to go by (see photos below), it will no doubt be awesome – and certainly something worth adding to your party diary!
All tournament games will be played on the Casa de Campo fields – spectators are very welcome and encouraged! We look forward to seeing you there!

And finally to get you in the mood: a few good memories of Semana Santa 2012…
Party ’till sunrise – celebrating “Sábado Santo” on Minitas Beach!
On Saturday April 7th, known in the Dominican Republic as “Sábado Santo”, Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and international visitors partied in true style – bouncing from boat party at Palmilla to Polo party for the “Semana Santa” Polo Tournament to the Luis Fonsi concert in the Altos de Chavón amphitheater and finally to Minitas Beach to end the party with the sunrise!
Celebrating the 7th annual Semana Santa Polo Tournament
On Saturday the 7th of April 2012, otherwise know as “Sábado Santo” a day when celebrations in the Dominican Republic rival those of New Year’s Eve, one of the many parties Casa de Campo villa owners and visitors were treated to was that of the “Semana Santa Polo Tournament”, celebrated in spectacular style at the Casa de Campo polo fields.
The Azimut Café in the Marina Casa de Campo celebrated on Saturday April the 7th 2012 (Sábado Santo) from 6:30pm to 10:00pm their first ““Atardecer de Aperitivos” – which has now evolved into the “Sunset Jazz Nights”. The next Sunset Jazz Night is planned for Thursday the 28th of March!
Luis Fonsi performed a wonderful repertoire of songs such as, “Tu Amor”,”Imagíname Sin Tí”, “Por Una Mujer”, “No me doy por vencido”, “Se Supone”, “Llueve por dentro”, among others.
